Join us as artist Nina Bonos shares the inspiration, process, and meaning behind her exhibition Seven Sacred Species and Trees of Life, on view at the RGP Art Gallery through September 27.

Nina paints what surrounds her—pomegranates, olives, figs, grapes, and palms—in luminous watercolor and mixed media inspired by the landscape she calls home. Her centerpiece work, Pomegranate Tree of Life, is a watercolor collage composed of 360 hand-painted pieces. Thirty-six pomegranates offer a blessing of life, while branches form the Hebrew letter Shin, a Divine symbol. Nina created this sweeping composition outdoors over several windy autumn afternoons.
