We are excited to announce the public phase of our $45m capital campaign to build a new, state-of-the-art Holocaust Center, library, and archive.

With antisemitic incidents rising exponentially, the JFCS Holocaust Center continues to increase our nationally recognized programming while guiding a major statewide response. Holocaust education is the most powerful tool to combat antisemitism and inspire moral courage in young people. Increasing our physical space will enable us to expand Holocaust education to schools throughout the state of California.

The new JFCS Holocaust Center building will include classrooms, meeting spaces, museum-quality exhibit space, a library to house 20,000 books, and archival storage for priceless artifacts.

The 15,000-square-foot, four-story building will allow us to go beyond the classroom as an accessible, immersive hub for educational programs, exhibits, symposiums, conferences, and research. Serving hundreds of schools, the center will be the only resource of its kind in Northern California.

Dr. Anita Friedman, JFCS Executive Director and Co-Chair of the Governor’s Council on Holocaust and Genocide Education, says:

“The sacred responsibility of this generation is to remember, commemorate, and teach the moral lessons of the Holocaust to future generations. We are grateful to those who have stepped up so generously to build this premier Holocaust Center, and we invite the entire community to be part of this once-in-a-century project.”
